Is It a Lie by Alex Lopez was released in 2015. A highly anticipated release from a red hot blues player from Florida. The result is a collection of solid Americana gems, with just enough blues roots to keep it honest.

On Is It a Lie expect original heartfelt songs behind slamming guitar playing and accomplished musicians backing him up. This is such a conservative yet amazing and dramatic album what else can I say in the end? This latest CD by Lopez is more than amazing, it’s cut from the cloth as classic blues masters as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Paul McCartney, BB King and Tommy Shannon. It has an almost true blues-journeyman anthem musical quality to it. The intro pieces “Cant Hide Your Love”, “Morning Blues” and “sing the Blues” quickly get things underway smoothly presenting really uplifting, yet emotional charged vocals reminiscent of acts such as Carlos Bertonatti, John Kelley and Eric Hutchinson. All songs present really strong melodies and at times gripping subject matter and real life topics – yet lighthearted nonetheless. It’s also impossible to deny the superiority of this band backing him up as well. True to form Blues I was especially blown away at how all songs drove you naturally towards the chorus with amazing lyrics compatible to the peak. Good playing by Lopez on guitar here as well – very capable soloist and axe-man. The drums and bass lines just help push songs forward, and the vibe if you pay attention carefully has this retro 50’s blues embellishment. As the CD evolves it showcases a really rock steady line up of songs with musical tidbits like solo guitar licks, and smooth rhythm section. In conclusion, here’s an album that quite literally made my day. Pardon me for saying but I get so many boring, un-interesting, overly-forgetful CD’s to review day in and day out. I have been dying to listen to a CD like “Is It a Lie” by Alex Lopez for quite some time now. It’s subliminal, it’s epic, it’ a grand concept that’s sure to get your attention – yet it’s very simple and magical. From the production to the musicians, including the great players to legendary front figure – Alex Lopez delivers in spaded. His live show looks rock solid and all of above shows no weakness of any kind when evaluating Lopez as a real deal talent.

To wrap it up – with the advent of Lopez’ latest CD “Is It a Lie” in the ever evolving realm of music it’s nice to know a guy like Lopez upholds some of the highest standards in pure rocking-blues and thus his musical roots in the process. Recording Artist, Writer, Producer, guitarist, Performer – Alex Lopez – Bravo, I say!
