“Young Heart” is an eclectic yet unique pop offering from Naples, Florida based singer/songwriter Casey Weston. Her music is hard to put in a generalized category or genre, but she does manage to incorporate elements of modern pop, alternative rock and what I would call theatrical ambient pop. As the evocative and imaginative pulse is brought forth as I played her music it reminded me of music derived from elements of all things Americana and a few Sadcore movements. With all 8 songs performed by Weston and her epic Production team there’s no questioning any musical credibility here which is established right from the beginning of track 1 “Play It All Up Again” Weston has a great voice and the Instrumentation/sampling features standard modern pop delivery. I will add she is not an amateur surrounded but a professional band and production team, we’ve all heard our fair share of that recently.

As the CD unwinds the first few tracks: “Play It All Up Again”, “Waking Up” and hit waiting to happen “Graveyard” open the door slowly while effortlessly flowing into a strong collection of 8 songs entitled “Young Heart”. Her musical style features a skillful combination of alternative rock, singer/songwriter type pop very inviting to the ears. Despite this I can hear a Midwestern almost American blend of Country pop trying to creep in. Her music reminds me of pop popular today , not 10+ years ago – which is typically what I get on my desk week in and week out. I would put Weston and this “Young Heart” CD against any modern female pop artist out there right now – it’s that solid. Other pieces “Little Bit of Everything” and “No Strings Attached” command a strong sense of musical cohesion from Weston and all involved. Vocally – some moments are even stunning. Right away I can hear vocal parallels to Shawn Colvin, Tori Amos, Sinead O Conner, Kate Bush, Katey Perry, Aimee Mann, even Lara Fabian to Delta Goodrem, On the other end of the sonic spectrum I can even hear Birdy. Lykke Li, Digby.

The CD “Young Heart” as a whole provides a well choreographed musical experience with Weston at the forefront. All tracks to me are thoughtful and a stellar performance-driven pop that are wonderfully powerful in nature. “Young Heart” by Casey Weston is an incredibly fluid musical statement from beginning to end. It provides brilliant artistic vision from an amazing singer and subsequent musical visionary that’s deserving of far wider recognition than this review. Whether you like rock, pop, alternative rock or even country sensibilities rest assured Weston is making her presence known in an otherwise commercial myriad of soulless clutter. Perfect pacing, intriguing compositions and a stellar voice have her scoring big here with me!
