Justin Heskett Band does country the best way. “More Than You Think” takes us back to when country was just crossing over into the mainstream. Back to a time when Garth Brooks made it okay for country to be a little pop while remaining true to the genre. Every song sounds like a good time, and that’s the truth as “Just My Luck” starts and makes you want to sing and dance at the same time. They then show a different side with the slowed down, “Someday.” Here you can hear the heart of the band. We kind of land in the middle with “When My Year Ends.” There’s heart, but it’s got this mid-tempo beat that keeps the foot tapping. Lastly, “Wish You Could See Me Now” really is the icing on the cake as it’s standard country. It’s a little heartbreak mixed with a lot of redemption, and sung beautifully.
