Vienna, Vienna, Austria — Robert John “Robbie” Ierubino, Jr. (born April 28, 1998) is an American digital artist, motion graphic designer, & music producer who emigrated to Vienna, Austria, in August 2012. Since Robbie became autistic when he was 2, he started creating art at 16. Then, he studied motion graphic arts and design with creative technologies at Staffordshire University from 2017 to 2021. But after watching a virtual exhibit video from London’s Design Museum titled ELECTRONIC: From Kraftwerk to the Chemical Brothers, he started producing electronica music under his moniker, NeuralMaker.

After producing some new songs and remastering his past music works, Robbie released his debut album, Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out, on April 28, 2022 (his 24th birthday) on some streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp (which only has a purchasable Deluxe Edition). He described his album as a practical experience when music is like a “drug” based on the LSD studies by Timothy Leary. Although some genres in his first album included electronic dance music (EDM), Robbie realized his primary genre in his music production was electronica.

“Electronica is an umbrella term for various genres of electronic music built with samples, synthesizers, and drum machines. Whether it’s dance music or not, he find it very expressive to produce and enjoyable to perform.”

In his debut album, his song, Lumiéres, was produced as a tribute to the genre itself based on its secret origin and history. Ease Yourself was based on the lessons from a MasterClass video series of deadmau5 teaching how to work in electronic music production. And finally, Robbie resampled a classic piano song, The Entertainer, by Scott Joplin, and transformed it into a post-modern dance song.

Although his debut album was self-distributed, Robbie thought that the album was just the beginning and planned to apply to any record label to learn and produce electronica music in a studio. And if he does, he’ll be interested in collaborating with musicians, bands, and producers to support their music-making. But also, as an artist and designer, he’ll be creating album art, tour visuals, and music campaigns for them.

“Robbie Ierubino hope everyone enjoy his music, including his debut album, and he can’t wait to produce some new electronica sounds in his creative future.”
