Quip: The Quip CD

quip-the-quip-cd-reviewQuip comes straight to you from you Arlington, Massachusetts with their album “The Quip CD.” It’s a trippy take on Americana. The record opens up with “It Feels So Nice” and it sounds muffled at times. Things get a little lighter in the music, but not the content as they do “The Aaron Hernandez Song.” What really makes this album have some footing is the addition of the mandolin; there’s something great about hearing that on a record in 2014, especially in songs like “Sweet Perfume.” Remember when we said “trippy” well you can chalk that up to “Groovy Grumbots.” It sounds like the soundtrack to getting lost in the south and wondering around aimlessly. Quip ends things with a creepy take on the “National Anthem.” All in all if you’re into experimental music as well as Americana, check out Quip’s “The Quip CD.” (https://denniskeenan.bandcamp.com/)
