Every song you hear, you try to place it somewhere in life. You either give it an emotion, you tag it along to a memory or you imagine it in a movie. When I heard Various Blondes Blind Samurai, I could only envision a dark alley. Born in 2008, Various Blonde is a band comprised of a trio of friends from Kansas City. They set out to make music that was alternative yet experimental and dark. They have succeeded in doing so. First off, when you think of anyone who is blind you think of overcoming obstacles and then tack on it is a samurai…That is crazy. So back to the music, it is everything that was just mentioned; dark, alternative and experimental. Those three things blended together create an ambiance that is both alluring yet scary all at the same time. Just put on Blind Samurai and imagine yourself in the aforementioned dark alley. It is also foggy and there is one light that sits at the opposite end. Do you turn around or head forward?
